 What to bring to your Tax appointment


Each year the media report new and innovative ways that scammers are stealing innocent people’s identity to access their funds.   To help fight the trend the Tax Practitioners Board has introduced a new requirement for Registered Tax Agents to have new clients produce proof of their identity.


Documents to bring


  • Some form of ID – Eg. Drivers licence

  • Current year Dividend details

  • Capital Gains event details

  • Other Investment income details

  • Receipts or proof of purchase for deductions being claimed

  • Receipts or proof of purchase for gifts and donations being claimed

  • Details of any tax related expenses paid for in the current financial year

  • Prior year Low Value Pool Details and ongoing Depreciation Schedule Details

Details to be provided 


  • Name and Address

  • Mobile Number

  • Email address

  • Date of Birth

  • Tax File Number

  • Bank Account Details

  • Spouse details:  Name, Date of Birth and Spouse income for the current year

  • Are you an Australian resident for tax purposes?

  • Have you been married for the full financial year?

  • How many dependent children do you have?
